The answer to success isn’t necessarily finding the right team, Derral argues that it all starts with the vision, and if you can sell the right vision, it will attract the right team. The vision has to be bigger than just having job security and making money - it has to bring value to people more than anything else. You need to get people behind something bigger than a paycheck.
Where do you want to be in three years? Derral talks about how every July, he tends to slow down with his work and ruminate on his goals for the next three years, whether that be his relationship with his family and God and where he wants to be in his work and life. The goals have to be simple, attainable, and timebound; it can help give some structure and direction to your career and personal life.
If you focus on your three-year goal, you will be able to achieve it. Although, you may find that some of the goals are too easily attainable and that, really, they are just stepping stones for a much larger, more complex goal. Derral says this method really helped him in seeing the bigger picture.
