- When starting a business, a lot of people don’t realize just how valuable knowledge of sales is. You need to radiate confidence and jump right into selling your product or service, after all, if you don’t appear to believe in it, how can you expect someone else to? When Jonathan first began, he had to cold call a lot of people and build on those skills to really succeed.
- If you network and you treat people right, you will get referrals. It doesn’t matter what profession you’re in, it’s those referrals and happy clients that you want. The key to making happy clients is to treat them like nothing else matters; you take care and be honest with them. But, like it or not, it all begins with cold-calling for a while - only then will you be able to build solid client relationships.
- Jonathan recalls a story of his time in Wall Street about a corrupt boss who was shredding evidence in the office. It was this moment that made him realize he had to leave, and instead of trying to reinvent the industry he went ahead and built his own business. He started over five times and had to learn whole new processes, but he says that it was the right thing to do, as his family and his clients are much better off, and, more importantly, he’s happy.
