Marvin Rees is the current Mayor of Bristol and has had multiple leadership and strategic roles throughout his career. He grew up in challenging circumstances and has always had a desire to make a difference in the world. He has a background in politics and international development, and is passionate about addressing issues of inequality and injustice. He was elected Mayor of Bristol in 2016, and became the first person of colour to be elected mayor of any major European city. He was named 2020 UK Politician of the Year in the Business Green Leaders Awards and joint winner of the 2021 Penn Institute for Urban Research Urban Leadership Award.
