The 70/30 Rule That Builds Client Trust ft. Ken Ashley
In this episode of The Wealthy Entrepreneur, host Bob Gauvreau sits down with Ken Ashley, Executive Director at Cushman & Wakefield, to talk about what three decades in commercial real estate have taught him about trust, discipline, responsiveness and becoming indispensable to clients.
In commercial real estate, it’s all about the deal. But what if relationships are the deciding factor in who gets trusted with the deal in the first place?
In this episode of The Wealthy Entrepreneur, host Bob Gauvreau sits down with Ken Ashley, Executive Director at Cushman & Wakefield, to talk about what three decades in commercial real estate have taught him about trust, discipline, responsiveness, and becoming indispensable to clients.
Ken shares one fascinating story after another: how one breakfast changed the direction of his career, why he took a second job valeting cars when he first entered the industry and how he built a long career in a commission-based business where, in his words, he wakes up “unemployed” every morning.
He also breaks down the 70/30 principle for building client trust, the “digital nod” system for staying responsive and the importance of guarding your time from low-payback activities, including the now unforgettable $500 pork sandwich.
This conversation offers a grounded look at how relationships, preparation, follow-up, and real listening can compound into a career that lasts.
